RCXDownload and RCXDirectMode both have software which is applecable with Java Runtime
leJOS for
the Lego Mindstorms RCX. Because of its ability not to need line commands on the one hand and
the transparency of both programs on the other hand, it makes it easy to start in object
orientated programming.
RCXDownload automatically sets the JDK-, leJOS- and ClassPaths, compiles the chosen Java-Source,
shows the compiler messages and is able to link and load both, the compiled classes and the
leJOS-firmware.
RCXDirectMode directly controls the RCX-Brick. Its transparent GUI covers the complicated
communication with the RCX. It needs just one mouse-click to start the motors, to control their
speed, to check out the sensors, to play an assortment of sounds and to confirm the level of
remaining battery power.
Naturally both programs were implemented in Java, so they are available for Windows and Linux.
